Colocation

Besides all of the security benefits of colocating equipment instead of renting dedicated or virtual servers, colocation also enables us to use hardware with specialized benefits for OpenVPN & WireGuard.

OpenVPN is single core - which means encryption can't be offloaded by using multiple cores. That's why OVPN use Intel® Xeon® processors with high frequencies and AES-NI instruction set, a combination that allows us to deliver high encryption speeds per server.

Hardware

We use the following server models in our locations:

  • Dell EMC PowerEdge R230 which is equipped with an Intel® Xeon® E3-1220v6 3.5GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and depending on location, 2x1 GbE Intel NICs or an 10GbE SFP+ Mellanox NIC.
  • HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 which is equipped with an Intel® Xeon® E3-1230v5 3.4GHz processor, 16 GB RAM, and depending on location, 2x1 GbE Intel NICs or an 10GbE SFP+ Mellanox NIC.
  • Supermicro SuperServer 5038ML-H8TRF consisting of 8 nodes, each node is equipped with an Intel® Xeon® E3-1241V3 3.5GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and a 10 GbE SFP+ Mellanox NIC.
  • Supermicro SuperServer 5038ML-H12TRF consisting of 12 nodes, each node is equipped with an Intel® Xeon® E3-1271v3 3.6GHz processor, 16 GB RAM, and a 10 GbE SFP+ Mellanox NIC.

And hard drives installed in these 96 VPN servers? Zero. Because we're an actual log-free VPN provider and your privacy is our core business.

And we use the following switches in our locations:

  • Cisco Nexus N3K-C3064PQ 48 ports of 10 GbE
  • Quanta LB4M 48 ports of 1 GbE
  • Quanta LB6M 24 ports of 10 GbE

Geolocation & access streaming services

OVPN's core focus is privacy and integrity. We do understand that our service is also used to circumvent geographical restrictions and access streaming services.

We have developed functionality to make sure that we can circumvent blocks by streaming providers as a result of that.
