This is the monthly transparency report for July 2017. OVPN had two unplanned service interruptions during the month of July.

Summary

Throughout the month of July, our VPN servers had an uptime of over 99.5%. In total, the OVPN servers encrypted and anonymized 2157.5 TB of data.

During the month of July, we did not receive any requests from authorities. To date, we have never given out any customer data to third parties.

Analysis

Our data center in Malmö has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. During the month of July, the traffic load amounted to 1200 Mbit/s on average.

The highest traffic spike was 2910 Mbit/s, which represents 29.1% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 1980 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 19.8% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 404.1 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized by the VPN servers in Malmö.

The Malmö data center had an uptime of over 99.5% during the month of July.

Analysis

In October 2016, OVPN upgraded its capacity in Stockholm from 10Gbit/s to 20Gbit/s. During the month of July, the average the traffic load was 4680 Mbit/s.

The largest recorded traffic spike was 7660 Mbit/s, which represents 38.3% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 6410 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 32.1% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 1.57 PB, meaning 1570 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized by the VPN servers in Stockholm.

The Stockholm data center had an uptime of 99.5% during the month of July.

Our data center in Frankfurt has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, during the month of July, the traffic load amounted to 226.3 Mbit/s on average.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 951 Mbit/s, which represents 9.5% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 372.9 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 3.7% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 76.0 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized in the Frankfurt data center.

Frankfurt had an uptime of 99.5% during the month of July.

Analysis

We deployed our servers in Amsterdam in December 2016, making July the eighth month the servers have been running. The Amsterdam data center has a maximum capacity of 3 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was only 232.7 Mbit/s on average in July.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 638.8 Mbit/s, which represents 21.3% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 371.1 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 12.4% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 78.1 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized in the Amsterdam data center.

Amsterdam had an uptime of 99.5% during July.

Analysis

We deployed our servers in Toronto in December 2016, making July the eighth month the servers have been running. The Toronto data center has a maximum capacity of 3 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was only 87.1 Mbit/s on average in July.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 373.2 Mbit/s, which represents 12.4% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 153.6 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 5.1% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 29.3 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized in the Toronto data center.

Toronto had an uptime of 99.5% during July.

WEB01 had an uptime of 99.99%, and an average response time of 52.78 ms in July.

Database

SQL01 had an uptime of 100%, and an average response time of 2.82 ms in July.
