OpenVPN 2.4.2 and the OpenVPN audit

Maximilian Holm, about Announcements

Earlier today we upgraded our servers to OpenVPN 2.4.2. We did this as a result of the recently-released OpenVPN audit.

The full report can be read on the OSTIF website, but in short, the upgrade fixes various flaws and vulnerabilities found in OpenVPN. One of the more major problems found is an exploit that could be used to issue a denial of service on the OpenVPN servers.

OVPN always aims to aim to always prioritize user safety and integrity and upgraded the servers to the latest 2.4.2 release as soon as possible in order to minimize any potential risk to our users.

As we mentioned earlier today, the servers have all been upgraded to OpenVPN 2.4.2, and we urge you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the service or the audit, as well as report any issues you may experience as a result of the upgrade.
