New Datacenter: Welcome Gothenburg!

author David Wibergh,

For a long time our users have been requesting servers in Gothenburg as we've previously only had Swedish servers in Malmö & Stockholm. This weekend we were able to fulfil those requests by placing three servers at Slakthusgatan 5 in Gothenburg. As usual, here's some more specific information as well as pictures on the datacenter in Gothenburg. Welcome!

Data center in Gothenburg

We're currently renting 8 height units in Gothnet's datacenter at Slakthusgatan 5. We have a 10 Gbit/s link and are connected through STHIX and Tele2. Through STHIX we can reach Comhem, Bahnhof and soon A3 and NetatOnce. All international traffic as well as Telia are sent through Tele2.

Every server has a 2x1 Gbit/s connection. To be conservative we estimate that each server can only handle 1 Gbit/s. As soon as we start to approach our max capacity we will upgrade to a SYS-5038ML-H8TRF blade system to ensure continued high throughput for our users.

Our current three servers in Gothenburg are of two different models. One of the servers is a HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 equipped with a Intel Xeon E3-1230v5 3.4GHz processor, 16 GB RAM, and 2x1 GbE Intel NIC. The other two servers are Dell EMC PowerEdge R230 equipped with Intel Xeon E3-1220V6 3.0GHz processor, 8 GB RAM and 2x1 Gbe Intel nic.

Just like our other datacenters these servers are run without hard drives or other types of permanent storage.

As traffic in Gothenburg increase we can add at least 2 blade systems in the current server rack, which means a total of 16 servers. This would increase the capacity to 16 Gbit/s.

Below you'll find a couple of pictures of the server rack in Gothenburg.
