Logging policy when using our services

OVPN does not log any activity from customers when connected to our VPN service. Thus, we do not know who is connected to our service, what they are doing or when they are doing it. At a bare minimum, this means that we do not store any bandwidth information for users or any timestamps for connections.

Writing permissions for the OpenVPN processes have been removed from the servers operating our VPN service. This prevents any user information from being logged at any time.

This is a conscious decision from our side as we take anonymity seriously and believe that privacy online is a human right.

Court orders

Hypothetically, if a court order was issued asking us to give out information about our customers, there would be no information or logs that we can provide. No information about what our users do when connected is stored.

The only information we would be able to provide would be the method of payment, that is if the customer paid via bitcoin, PayPal, cash, or credit card. We have not provided any information about our customers to a third party to date.

Customer information

As our customer you will need to enter an email address and a password. We recommend our customers to provide an email as we send receipts after a payment has been made, but to be clear, providing a valid email address is not mandatory.

Credit card payments

Your credit card information is not stored by us. Our credit card solution provider Braintree which is PCI DSS certified, is used to secure your payment information. Thus, we do not have access to your credit card information and it is not stored by us.

We encourage all our users to pay for OVPN anonymously.


We have made a conscious choice to minimize third party involvement in our website. We do not use Google Analytics on our website to track user behaviour.

Instead we use Piwik, an Open Source solution that we host ourselves which automatically anonymizes the two last bytes in your IP address in order to keep you hidden and secure, even from us.

If Do Not Track is activated, you will not be included in our statistics.

However, two third party services have been included: Zopim and Mailgun.

Zopim is used for live chat support on OVPN. We recommend that no personal information is written when customers use the chat in order to ensure their privacy.

Mailgun is used to send emails to our customers. We make sure to never send any sensitive information in the emails when using Mailgun.

On some pages we use reporting tools from Google and Facebook to measure ad efficiency. We also use Adrecord & CJ. We do this to minimize our marketing and advertising costs in order to invest any savings into improving and building out our infrastructure.


No customer information is shared with third parties.

If a customer wishes to delete any information we have about them, that customer can contact us. If the customer in question has an active subscription, any remaining subscription time will also be removed.
