Update to Accepted Payment Options

Maximilian Holm, about Announcements

At OVPN, privacy and anonymity are core guiding principles in everything we do. We take privacy so seriously that we have historically gone the extra mile to accept cash and Monero as payment methods for those looking to minimize their digital footprint.

Unfortunately, we’ve experienced a notable increase in websites partially or completely blocking our IP addresses, primarily due to a surge in abuse. Partial or complete IP blocking has ramifications for our IP reputation and poses challenges to our ability to continue offering high-quality services to our customers.

In order to continue providing high-quality services, we have made the decision to remove cash and Monero as payment methods, starting on February 9.

We did not make this decision lightly and without careful consideration. As staunch advocates for a free, unrestricted internet, addressing this abuse has not been without challenge. While we acknowledge that this may not serve as a definitive solution to preventing abuse, we believe it is a crucial step in addressing the challenges our users have faced, particularly when it comes to services being blocked.

We understand that this change may inconvenience some of our users—primarily those that rely on cash payments—and we sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause. Our commitment to your privacy and security remains unwavering, and we are actively exploring alternative, secure payment methods that align with our principles.

If you wish to renew your subscription using cash before it gets removed on the February 9, there is still some time left to do that.

For any concerns or questions regarding this change, please reach out to our dedicated support team at support@ovpn.com. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we continue to improve our service.
