This is the monthly transparency report for August 2016.

OVPN had zero planned or unplanned service interruptions in August.

Summary

Our VPN servers had an uptime of almost 100% during August. OVPN encrypted and anonymized 1011 TB, which is an increase from July and a new traffic record. It's also the first time OVPN encrypts and anonymizes more than one petabyte in one month.

Below are the traffic and uptime statistics from our current datacenters.

Analysis

Our datacenter in Malmö has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, during August the traffic load amounted to 661 Mbit/s on average.

The highest traffic spike was 1370 Mbit/s, which represents 13,7% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 993 Mbit/s, meaning the traffic load was below 9,9% of the maximum capacity for 95% of the time.

In total 214 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized by the VPN servers in Malmö.

The Malmö datacenter had an uptime of 100% during August.

Analysis

Our datacenter in Stockholm has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, during August the average traffic load was 2370 Mbit/s.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 5300 Mbit/s, which represents 53,0% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 3610 Mbit/s, meaning the traffic load was below 36,1% of the maximum capacity for 95% of the time.

In total 767 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized by the servers in Stockholm.

The Stockholm datacenter had an uptime of 100% during August.

Analysis

We deployed our servers in Frankfurt on January 31st, meaning August is the 8th full month the servers have been running. The Frankfurt datacenter has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was a mere 171 Mbit/s on average in August.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 457 Mbit/s, which represents 4,6% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 171 Mbit/s, meaning the traffic load was below 1,71% of the maximum capacity for 95% of the time.

In total a mere 30 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized in the Frankfurt datacenter. We will shortly start a larger international campaign since we have so much unused capacity in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt had an uptime of 100% during August.

WEB01 had an uptime of 99,99% and an average response time of 60,52 ms in August.

Database

SQL01 had an uptime of 100% and an average response time of 8,091 ms in August.
