This is the monthly transparency report for October 2017. OVPN had two unplanned service interruptions and two planned service interruptions during the month of October.

Summary

Throughout the month of October, our VPN servers had an uptime of over 99.5%. In total, the OVPN servers encrypted and anonymized 2566.9 TB of data, which is 190,3 TB more than September which holds the previous record.

During the month of October, we did not receive any requests from authorities. To date, we have never given out any customer data to third parties.

Below are the traffic and uptime statistics from our current data centers.

Analysis

Our data center in Malmö has a maximum capacity of 10 Gbit/s. During the month of October, the traffic load amounted to 1360 Mbit/s on average.

The highest traffic spike was 3660 Mbit/s, which represents 36.6% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 2370 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 23.7% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 456.9 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized by the VPN servers in Malmö.

The Malmö data center had an uptime of over 99.5% during the month of October.

Our data center in Stockholm has a maximum capacity of 20 Gbit/s. During the month of October, the traffic load amounted to 5420 Mbit/s on average.

The largest recorded traffic spike was 8940 Mbit/s, which represents 44.7% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 7820 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 39.1% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 1.82 PB, meaning 1820 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized by the VPN servers in Stockholm.

The Stockholm data center had an uptime of 99.5% during the month of October.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 840.1 Mbit/s, which represents 8.4% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 424.3 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 4.2% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 77.4 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized in the Frankfurt data center.

Frankfurt had an uptime of 99.5% during the month of October.

We deployed our servers in Amsterdam in December 2016, making October the eleventh month the servers have been running. The Amsterdam data center has a maximum capacity of 3 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was only 268.1 Mbit/s on average in October.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 709.2 Mbit/s, which represents 23.6% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 443.6 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 14.8% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 89.9 TB of data was encrypted and anonymized in the Amsterdam data center.

We deployed our servers in Toronto in December 2016, making October the eleventh month the servers have been running. The Toronto data center has a maximum capacity of 3 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was only 69.8 Mbit/s on average in October.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 348.7 Mbit/s, which represents 11.6% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 123.2 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 4.1% of the maximum capacity.

We deployed our servers in Miami in August 2017, making October the third month the servers have been running. The Miami data center has a maximum capacity of 3 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was only 27.7 Mbit/s on average in October.

The largest traffic spike recorded was 274.0 Mbit/s, which represents 9.13% of the maximum capacity. The 95th percentile landed on 73.3 Mbit/s, meaning that 95% of the time, the traffic load was below 2.4% of the maximum capacity.

In total, 9.3 TB of traffic was encrypted and anonymized in the Miami data center.

We deployed our servers in Oslo in August 2017 making October the third month the servers have been running. The Oslo data center has a maximum capacity of 3 Gbit/s. However, the traffic load was only 234.8 Mbit/s on average in October.
