Encryption at OVPN

David Wibergh, about Products & features

Security is our business. With that in mind, we have implemented the strongest encryption algorithm out there for our VPN tunnel.

Many VPN providers use Blowfish with a 128-bit key as their encryption algorithm. OVPN uses AES-256-GCM instead, which as of this writing is regarded as the strongest algorithm for encryption. AES-256 is, just to name one example, used by the US military in order to encrypt top secret documents.

We are using a 2048-bit Diffie-Hellman key as an ’HMAC firewall’ in combination with a 1024-bit TLS key in order to obfuscate the key exchange during the authentication phase. The Diffie-Hellman key also allows us to swiftly ignore data packets that are being sent to us, to some degree protecting OVPN against DoS (denial-of-service) attacks. The key is also reducing the amount of information that gets sent from our servers to unknown clients.

To sum it up, OVPN is treating your security as if it were our own – and we make sure it is encrypted properly. Our strong encryption algorithms combined with the fact that we can guarantee that no logs are being stored make us the obvious choice as your VPN provider.
